A memory behind the music
I was living behind Tim's couch in a quiet suburb of San Diego when I first started to fall in love with this song. I was driving a 1987 Acura Integra that was quite beat up but such a cool fun car. I'd drive it to Target at 11pm, work through the night until it was time for a quick shower and then a day full of classes at the near by mira costa community college. I'd eat just a chocolate chip muffin and an egg for breakfast and play this song while waiting for class in my car. Or if i had the time and the gas money I'd drive over to the next town over and look for new music at the nearby cool-person music shop. It was like Rasputin, where we bought most of our Ghibli records, but a bit smaller, much more cramped, and quite a bit dirtier. It wasn't great working the night shift at Target and sleeping on a yoga mat behind a couch. But songs like this made it feel like a bit more hopeful. It made going to community college, with ambition of transferring to UCLA so much more bearable.
