A memory behind the music
I remember in the first year of Junior College at Moorpark college, near Simi Valley, just before everything went terrible, I was in an evening writing class. The class was super easy and the teacher was super casual. He was encouraging us to be creative with writing, and to let out our inner thoughts and feelings as we wrote, even if it was about something mundane. He did this by telling us a story about one of his former students. This student was the shyest, most quiet, unassuming student in all of his classes. She seemed like she was barely there. But then the very first sentence of her essay was simply "I really like sex" and then of course it went on into detail about that particular topic. And the teacher, he just didn't know how to handle that kind of opening from such a shy quiet student. But that's what writing is all about. Its putting down onto paper things people maybe can't tell from just looking at you. And then my life changed and songs like this made a lot more sense to me.
