Shoulder to the Wheel

Even though Derek was a kind of terrible friend I still hung out with him and Casey a lot. And one night we just drove around. We drove through the Malibu hills from Thousand Oaks because we were bored and wanted to drive. And so we'd sing this song, along with another on the album that's a cover of a really famous 80s song. over and over and over and over. We probably played these two songs on the album a good 5 or 10 times each as we drove through dark winding and richly green hills with no one else around. This went on until at least midnight on a friday or saturday night. And somehow our parents never worried about us. For Derek it was probably due to neglect, I doubt his parents cared. For casey I think his mom had too much to deal with in life. And my parents somehow decided just trust me, mostly because i didn't drink or due drugs and did fine in school. So I got to do pretty much whatever I wanted late at night as long as I came home safe. So i'd drive around with friends and blast music and cause an early form of deafness.
