The Story

A memory behind the music

Like I said, I lived at Jay's family home more than once. This song reminds me of what it was like to have a Harry Potter like life. Unlike Harry Potter, my time was during college at UCLA. My parents had both left California, my family home had dissolved completely. And so anytime there was a break at school for long holidays, or if i had to be somewhere in between moving apartments, I had no home. No place to go back too that was safe and secure. And so like Harry Potter I stayed at a friends house that was a little bit too chaotic. I had a room to myself but it was the guest room. And Jay's room was a compete disaster, somehow he survived by just moving laundry from his bed to his computer chair and back and forth. Then there was the retired boxer that lived in their ADU and who was a very very loud man. One christmas I was at their place and had wrapped a towel around my head for some reason and the boxer joked that I completely looked like a middle eastern terrorist. And his dad, a very staunch republican guy, joked that we should get the guns out. Somehow that felt better than nothing tho. Because like I saw, this was a time where even though I had an apartment to live in , usually, in many ways I was homeless like Harry Potter.
