The Story
A memory behind the music
The music I listened to in high school wasn't great. It was...Low fidelity, the true form of lofi. Bad recording gear, bad recording, bad singing, but a lot of feeling. And this was one of those bands. One of those bands associated with The Get Up Kids that I just absolutely loved. I never did go see this band in concert but I remember this one band, ten times a day, that was local to the San Fernando Valley that I went and saw over and over. I think i first saw Ten Times A day at this place called Cobalt Cafe. A really shitty little live house for teenager punk rock bands to play. Usually only 10 or 20 people would show up. So discovered the band and then I would go to wherever they played. I once drove about an hour with my friend Tim to this former theater turned into a live house to see Ten Times a Day, then we drove back home to go to school the next day. I think i even went to a pizza party for one of their record releases. And I'm pretty sure i was one of their only fans that showed up. Everyone else was just their regular friends celebrating with them. But that's what being 17 in the San Fernando Valley was like.
