A memory behind the music
The day after I discovered this band I got a speeding ticket for going 99 miles an hour in a 65 miles an hour zone. I was 16. My friends had all been partying at John Monroux's house and we'd spent the night there as we were having too much fun. My friends Casey and Derek got super trashed and were hung over so it was up to me to drive us home, the 30 or 45 minute journey. And with my spectacularly broken shitty used car I drove as fast as I could. Not because i was in a rush but because i was a dumb 16 year old boy. It was fun and exciting. So i'd passed so many cars on the highway that early saturday morning and i was going so fast with music blasting so loud that I didn't notice a cop was behind me. And when i did finally notice i obviously slowed down and pulled over. The cop almost couldn't believe i was this sober reasonable kid. Just a dumb kid who like driving fast. So they gave me a ticket that was just below the felony rate and even did something weirder. They wrote in a custom place for going to court to deal with the ticket. WHen I showed up on the date, it turns out the cop never filed the ticket. They just really wanted to spook me into driving safer. And funny thing is, it worked.
